They are specifically designed to work in combination to create a super-strong, waterproof barrier that can help slow down or even stop water from entering structures. Once floodwaters recede, they can be easily removed.

A: Go to: flexsealproducts.com/flood to find detailed video instructions about how to seal all types of openings.

Q: What protective gear is recommended when applying the Flex Seal Flood Protection Products?

A: Always use protective gloves, clothing, and eyewear.

Q: In what sizes are the Flex Flood Protection products currently available?

A: Flood Protection Paste is available in a 9 oz cartridge and 3 individually wrapped 8.75 oz sleeves. Flood Protection Liquid is available in a 10 oz jar, a 28 oz can, and a 122 oz can. Flood Protection Spray is currently available in a 10 oz aerosol. Flood Protection Tape is available in 3.75"x 20' and 7.5” x 20’ rolls.

Q: What coverage do the Flex Seal Flood Protection products provide?

A: Coverage is product specific and will depend on the thickness of the application. Go to: flexsealproducts.com/flood for additional details.

Q: Why do I need to use multiple Flood Protection products?

A: Using our Flood Protection products in combination with one another will create multiple, overlapping layers of protection and increase your chance of holding back floodwaters.

Q: Should I apply them to the exterior or the interior of the structure?

A: Apply all Flood Protection products to the exterior of the structure where water meets the building.

Q: Are our Flood Protection Products guaranteed to stop all floodwaters every time?

A: No. Every structure is different. Depending on the age and type of construction, there may be areas that can’t be seen or sealed. Unsealed porous surfaces may seep water during extended underwater exposure. So, it’s impossible to stop all floodwaters from entering every time, but our Flood Protection products can help.

Q: What are the limitations of our Flood Protective products?

A: Our Flood Protection products are not designed to protect against extreme winds, water pressure, flying or floating debris. They are also not intended to stop water from flash floods or if there is structural damage to the building.

Q: Do I need to support the garage door?

A: We recommend that you reinforce/brace your garage door. High water levels could cause the door to bow and break the flood protection seal.

Q: Should I remain in the structure after sealing it?

A: Always follow your State and Local weather advisories and evacuation orders.

Q: How long before a storm or flood should I apply the products?

A: Please allow approximately 24-48 hours for the final layer of Flood Protection products to dry before floodwaters arrive.

Q: What is the recommended application temperature for Flood Protection products?

A: For best results, our Flood Protection products should be applied in temperatures between 32°F - 120°F.

Q: How should I prepare surfaces to be sealed?

A: Proper preparation of the surface being sealed is extremely important. Make sure the area being sealed is completely clean and dry. You’ll also want to remove any sharp objects, such as nails, glass, or splintered wood that could cause injury. Go to: flexsealproducts.com/flood for detailed instructions.

Q: How high up each opening should I apply Flood Protection products?

A: Extend the surface preparation and product application to a minimum of one foot above the expected height of flood or storm waters.

Q: Have our Flood Protection products been UL tested and verified?

A: When used in combination and as directed, our Flood Protection products have been independently verified, in a controlled laboratory setting, by UL Solutions to hold back up to 3 feet of water for 14 days on gaps up to ½ inch.

Q: I am ready to begin sealing the structure. What should I do first?

A: We’ve created a series of easy-to-follow “How-To” videos which will provide you with step-by-step directions for sealing your home or business. For instructions go to: flexsealproducts.com/flood.

Q: Is there a suggested game plan or method I can use to save time sealing a structure?

Q: How long does each of the Flood Protection products take to dry?

A: Dry times are product specific and depend on the thickness of the application, temperature, and humidity. Go to: flexsealproducts.com/flood for details and watch our “Dry Times” how-to video.

Q: What are the suggested best practices for applying all our Flood Protection products?

A: Flood Paste in a Cartridge is our primary Flood Protection product. Use it as the base coat for your first layer of protection. Use Flood Tape on even, smooth, flat surfaces in combination with our other Flood Protection products to create multiple overlapping layers of waterproof protection. Use Flood Spray as a primer primarily for smaller, hard-to-reach areas or irregularly shapes. Use Flood Liquid or Spray as a final coat to help seal openings or pin holes that may have been missed. Go to: flexsealproducts.com/flood for detailed visual instructions.

Q: Will the Flood Protection products discolor a surface?

A: Under certain circumstances Flood Protection products may leave a residue or shadow on untreated porous surfaces upon removal.

Q: How do I remove the Flex Seal Flood Protection Products?

A: To remove the products, grab a small portion of the material from the edge and begin to pull it away from the structure. Any remaining residue can be removed using a rag and denatured alcohol. Go to: flexsealproducts.com/flood for detailed instructions.

Q: How long has The Flex Seal Family of Flood Protection Products been in development?

A: Our Flood Protection products have been in R&D for more than three years. They have been through rigorous testing both internally and independently by UL Solutions (formerly Underwriter’s Laboratories).

Q: Who is UL Solutions?

A: Flex Paste is perfect for DIY, handyman projects, arts & crafts, hobbies and so much more! Use it to repair your roof, winterize your home, plumbing repairs, to seal cracks, automotive or marine repairs, pool and spa repairs, and so much more.

Q: Can I use this on drinking water, rain barrels, fish tanks, etc.…?

A: Flex Paste has not been tested for safe use on potable water sources or around plants and animals.

Q: How do I apply Flex Paste?

Q: Can I smooth or tool it once it has been applied?

A: Depending on temperature, humidity or the thickness of the layer, Flex Paste can be tooled within 15-30 minutes of the initial application. It will dry to the touch in approximately 2 hours and fully cure in 24 to 48 hours. Flex Paste gets stronger over time.

Q: How do I preserve Flex Paste?

A: Flex Paste begins to cure once exposed to air, moisture and humidity. To slow the curing process , keep the product covered with the lid during use. Secure the lid and store in a cool dry place when done. If your packaging has a protective foil on the surface of the Flex Paste, DO NOT DISCARD PROTECTIVE FOIL OR SILICA GEL PACKET and after each use, always replace the protective foil and the silica gel packet. Start by pressing the foil on the center of the surface of the product and continue pressing outwards so the foil remains in constant contact with the Flex Paste. Make sure no air pockets have formed between the foil and Flex Paste. Once you reach the edge of the tub, press the foil around the inside perimeter, keeping the excess foil facing up. Replace silica gel packet and secure the lid. Before use, always remove any dry material or skin that may have formed on the surface. Do not mix dry and fresh Flex Paste together in the tub.

Q: I lost my protective foil. What should I do?

A: Cut a piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil larger than the opening of the Flex Paste container by a ½ inch all the way around. Use it in place of the protective foil after each use.

Q: How long should I wait to apply a second layer of Flex Paste?

A: Allow 24 hours to cure before applying additional coats if needed.

Q: How long does it take for the product to fully cure?

A: Depending on the thickness of the layer the product needs 24 – 48 hours to fully cure. Temperature and humidity levels will also impact the curing process. Humid environments will cure the product faster than dry environments. If the treated area is still wet or soft, it will need more time to cure.

Q: Once fully cured, does Flex Paste remain flexible?

A: YES, Flex Paste dries into a strong, flexible rubber that expands and contracts with the surfaces to which it’s adhered.

Q: Will Flex Paste shrink?

A: NO, Flex Paste will not shrink, crack or peel.

Q: Can Flex Paste be painted?

A: YES, once fully cured, it can be painted any color.

Q: Can Flex Paste be sanded?

A: Unlike spackle or joint compound, Flex Paste dries to a waterproof, flexible rubber. Therefore, sanding may not be the best option once Flex Paste has cured. Flex Tape forms a super strong bond with itself, so if you’re patching a pool it’s best to first apply Flex Tape to the interior side of the pool wall and then place a second piece of Flex Tape to the exterior. Remember to cut your Flex Tape larger than the area of the leak. You do not need to drain the pool prior to applying it. Flex Tape is a temporary, emergency repair and is not meant to be a permanent fix.

Q: Can I use it to repair an air mattress or inflatable?

A: Flex Tape can be used as a temporary, emergency repair to an air mattress or inflatable. However, it may not bond with all materials. Always test before use.

Flex Super GlueTM FAQ

Q: What is Flex Super Glue?

A: Flex Super Glue is a high-performance, instant adhesive that bonds in seconds. It dries crystal clear to form a super strong, impact resistant bond that can be used on almost any material. It is perfect for quick repairs of plastic, metal, ceramic and more. Its precision nozzle allows you to make delicate repairs on just about anything around the home. Flex Super Glue is available in a Liquid and a Gel.

Q: Why do I need to shake the GEL bottle?

A: Flex Super Glue Gel is a thicker formula than a super glue liquid. Shaking the bottle pushes the settled glue to the tip of the nozzle. This allows for even and controlled dispensing.

Q: What is the difference between the Liquid and the Gel Flex Super Glue?

A: The Flex Super Glue Liquid flows like water and is great for horizontal and non-porous surfaces. Flex Super Glue Gel’s thicker formula is great for vertical and porous surfaces. Once fully cured, both formulas have the same high-performance bond.

Q: In what sizes is Flex Super Glue available?

A: Flex Super Glue Liquid is available in squeeze tubes and bottles (either with a precision nozzle or brush applicator). Flex Super Glue Gel is available in squeeze tubes or bottles with a precision nozzle. Squeeze tubes and bottles come in varying sizes.

Q: What should I do if I get my fingers glued together?

A: If your fingers get glued together, you should immediately soak the bonded area in warm, soapy water. Carefully peel or roll the skin apart gently and slowly. DO NOT PULL APART. Flex Super Glue creates an extraordinarily strong bond that is nearly impossible to break by pulling straight up and down. If you gently roll the skin, you will gradually diminish the bonds between the Flex Super Glue molecules enabling your fingers to separate.

Q: How long does Flex Super Glue take to set?

A: Flex Super Glue Liquid takes 5 to 45 seconds to set, depending on the surface being bonded and the amount of glue used. The Flex Super Glue Gel takes up to 45 seconds to set. Both formulas can take anywhere between 1 to 24 hours to fully cure.

Q: How do I remove Flex Super Glue from a surface?

A: Depending on the surfaces and volume of the product used, Flex Super Glue can be removed with Adhesive Remover. Fully cured Flex Super Glue could take anywhere between 1 to 24 hours to remove.

Q: Will Flex Super Glue bond to plastics, vinyl, or rubbers?

A: Yes, Flex Super Glue bonds to Metal, Wood, Ceramic, Plastic, Paper, Leather, and so much more.

Q: Can I use Flex Super Glue on a wet surface or underwater?

A: No. The surface needs to be clean, dry, and free of oil or grease. Once fully cured, Flex Super Glue is water resistant.

Q: In what temperatures can I apply Flex Super Glue?

A: Flex Super Glue can be applied up to 200 degrees.

Q: Can I paint over Flex Super Glue?

A: Yes. Once fully cured, Flex Super Glue is capable of being sanded and painted.

Q: Can I use Flex Super Glue on a vertical surface?

A: Yes, we recommend the Flex Super Glue Gel for vertical surfaces. We recommend holding the object firmly to the surface, allowing Flex Super Glue up to 45 seconds to set. Flex Super Glue Gel could take anywhere between 1 to 24 hours to fully cure.

Q: Is Flex Super Glue food safe?

A: Flex Super Glue is not recommended to be used around food. It is also not recommended to be used on items that would go in the microwave, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, or freezer.

Q: How much Flex Super Glue should I apply?

A: We recommend one drop per square inch of surface being bonded. Excessive amounts of Flex Super Glue are not necessary and will reduce the overall performance and the glue.

Q: What is the difference between Set and Cure time?

A: Set time is the time required for the initial bond of the surface to occur. Once set, bracing or holding should no longer be necessary. Cure time is the time it takes Flex Super Glue to reach full strength. Whenever possible, the repaired item should be left to cure overnight.

Q: How should I store Flex Super Glue?

A: Replace the cap immediately and store in a cool, dry place.
